At Saint Thomas, we partner with Aquinas College, the Catholic college adjacent to our campus. Together we emphasize lifelong learning and Catholic faith. Aquinas students volunteer at Saint Thomas as tutors, reading partners, classroom volunteers and coaches. Meanwhile, we provide a supportive faith home for these college students.
First-year Aquinas students majoring in education spend a semester at Saint Thomas. They observe and assist with classroom experiences and faith formation. Others use Saint Thomas to fulfill their classroom lab graduation requirement. We also train student teachers at the end of their Aquinas career. Aquinas instructors teach classes in our school, allowing them to identify and practice techniques learned in their Aquinas education classes.
Saint Thomas has joined with Aquinas for our College for Kids program, a weeklong opportunity to take summer classes on the Aquinas campus. We offer classes in a variety of interest and educational topics and are planning new and innovative classes in Sustainable Business, Education, Science and Music.
We recognize the need for future teachers who have the unique mindset for Catholic education. Together we are preparing a certification program that embeds Catholic identity, catechesis, and faith formation for college students who choose this important ministry.
