Extracurriculars

Saint Thomas challenges students with a wide range of after school programs, including karate, Bricks 4 Kids Lego robotics, dinner theater, cooking, as well as language classes such as Latin, Chinese and French. Many of these programs are offered to the entire family.

Middle school students can participate in Science Olympiad. We are proud that our students medaled in only their second year of competition! These students truly embrace working together as a team. Many of our alumni return to Saint Thomas to coach for Science Olympiad.

Students in our middle school also participate in our annual Spelling Bee and "You be the Chemist" Competition. Saint Thomas is proud to be the Regional Site for the "You be the Chemist" Competition. Representatives from Webb Chemical in Muskegon and PVS Chemicals in Detroit visit Saint Thomas and host this competition. Each year, we have students advance to the state level in these events!

At Saint Thomas, we continually seek and offer experiences to enrich our students' growth:

  • In addition to our music classes, students may participate in one of three Saint Thomas Children’s Choirs. Practice is held Tuesday nights in the church.
  • Student authors publish illustrated stories in our parent volunteer run Publishing Center.
  • Reading with the STARS allows students to read favorite books with adult volunteers (parents, grandparents, local university students, as well as West Michigan celebrities).
  • Student Council offers our students an opportunity to serve the student body by providing fun activities, service opportunities and community outreach with local charity Kids’ Food Basket.
  • Our summer College for Kids program at Aquinas College offers classes in science, theater, writing, art, foreign languages and technology, just to name a few. Students get a mini college experience while attending week-long classes at Aquinas College.
